What is actually in stock
Hydraulic hose gets bought two ways here. Some customers want a length of hose to take away and fit themselves. Others want the same hose with the correct ends crimped on before they leave. Both are counter transactions and neither needs an order placing.
What sits on the racks covers the working range of almost everything that runs hydraulics on Long Island. One and two wire braid handles general circuits and anything that has to flex. Four and six spiral handles the high pressure and high impulse work where braid would fatigue. Sizes run from 1/8 inch through 2 inch, which in hydraulic terms is dash 02 through dash 32.
Alongside the hose itself are the ends that go on it, which is the part that catches people out when they buy hose online and then cannot find a fitting to match. Tens of thousands of fittings sit on the wall across JIC, NPT, ORFS, BSP, metric and SAE flange, so the hose and the ends come from the same building and the crimp specification between them is already known.

Hydraulic hose is sold in dash sizes, which are the inside diameter counted in sixteenths of an inch. Pick from either side and the rest fills in.

The four types we keep
Reinforcement is what separates one hydraulic hose from another. More wire means more pressure and less flexibility, and choosing between them is a trade rather than an upgrade.
One wire braid
A single layer of wire woven around the tube. The most flexible of the four and the usual choice on lower pressure return lines, light equipment and tight routing where a stiffer hose would fight you.

Two wire braid
Two braided layers. This covers the majority of general hydraulic work across fleets and construction equipment, and it is the hose most people mean when they ask for hydraulic hose without qualifying it.

Four spiral
Wire wrapped in alternating layers rather than woven. Handles higher pressure and, more usefully, survives repeated pressure spikes far better than braid. Stiffer, with a larger minimum bend radius.

Raw hose or finished assembly
Bulk hose, cut to your length
Tell us the dash size, the construction and how many feet. It gets cut off the reel and you take it away. No fixed pack sizes and no minimum, which matters when a job needs eleven feet rather than a twenty five foot coil.
Bring the fitting you intend to use if you have it, because the crimp specification depends on the hose brand as well as the fitting, and knowing what you walked out with makes the next visit faster.
Or leave with it finished
Most people buying hydraulic hose here walk out with an assembly rather than a coil. The hose gets cut, the ends selected and oriented, and the crimp set on calibrated equipment, usually inside twenty minutes.

Before You Buy
Common questions
Go by the inside diameter, not the outside. Hydraulic hose is sized on bore, so a 3/8 inch hose has a 3/8 inch bore and an outside diameter considerably larger than that. Measuring the outside of an old hose is the most common way people end up a size too big. If the layline is still readable it will tell you directly, and if it is not, bring the hose in.
It is the bore expressed in sixteenths of an inch. A dash 08 hose has a bore of eight sixteenths, which is 1/2 inch. Dash 16 is sixteen sixteenths, so 1 inch. The reference above converts either way. Fittings use the same system, which is why a dash 06 hose takes a dash 06 fitting.
Yes. Hose is cut off the reel to whatever length you ask for. There is no minimum and no fixed pack, so if a job needs four feet, four feet is what you buy.
Not automatically. Spiral raises the pressure rating and also raises the stiffness and the minimum bend radius, so a spiral hose forced into routing designed for braid can fail sooner than the hose it replaced. Match the construction to the circuit rather than buying the heaviest thing on the shelf.

Broadly yes, and both crimp on site with the same capability. Depth on the less common sizes can vary between Hempstead and Oakdale, so if you need something at the edges of the range, call the counter first and we will confirm it is there before you drive over.
