Getting It Right
The hose has to outrank the machine
Pressure washing is one of the few places where a consumer can buy a machine that outruns the hose sold next to it. Pumps have got cheaper and more powerful, and the hose that came coiled in the box is often the first component to give up.
The rule is simple. The working pressure printed on the hose has to be comfortably above what the pump produces, not equal to it, because trigger release sends a pressure spike back down the line every time you let go. A hose rated exactly at the machine figure is spending its safety margin on every stop.
Temperature is the second half, and the one people miss. Hot water machines need hose built for hot water. Cold water rated hose on a hot machine goes soft, blisters and then splits, and it does it faster than most people expect because the failure is progressive rather than sudden.

Nozzle Colours
What each colour actually does
The colour code is the same across every manufacturer, which is the one thing in this trade everybody agreed on. Tap a colour to see the spray it produces.
25 degree, general cleaning
The one that lives on the gun most of the time. Wide enough to cover ground quickly and gentle enough not to scar most surfaces. If you only own one nozzle, this is the one worth having.

The red zero degree nozzle deserves respect. It concentrates the machine's full output into a single point and it will cut skin, strip paint and damage masonry without much warning. Plenty of professionals never fit one. If you do, keep it moving, keep it off anything soft, and never point it at a person.
Choosing Hose
Three things that decide it
Braid count sets the rating
Single wire braid covers most consumer and light commercial machines. Two wire braid goes on higher output units and anything running all day. The braid is what carries the pressure, so a thick cover on a single braid hose is not an upgrade.
Hot water needs hot water hose
Heated machines demand hose built for the temperature as well as the pressure. Cold rated hose on a hot unit softens, blisters and splits. If your machine has a burner, say so before buying anything.
Steel braid, or non-marking
Standard covers are tough and cheap. Non-marking covers matter on finished surfaces where a dragged hose leaves a black line across a client's driveway. Both are stocked, and the choice usually depends on what you clean.

Where the leaks start
Machines, guns and hoses ship with several different coupling systems and they are not interchangeable. This is the part worth checking before buying anything.

Sewer jetter hose
A different product from wash hose despite the similar pressures. Jetter line is thermoplastic, slim and flexible enough to work around bends in a pipe, with a smooth cover that will not snag inside a line and a button nose or rotating tip on the end.

Common questions
Comfortably above what your machine produces, not equal to it. Releasing the trigger sends a pressure spike back down the hose every time, so a hose rated exactly at the pump figure is using its safety margin constantly. Tell us the machine and we will size it with headroom.
Red is zero degrees and concentrates everything into a point. Yellow is fifteen and chisels. Green is twenty five and does most general cleaning. White is forty and is the gentle one for siding and finished surfaces. Black is the soap nozzle, which drops the pressure so detergent can be drawn in and applied.
Almost always because it is the other M22. They are made with either a 14mm or a 15mm inner insert, the threads are identical, and the two will screw together and then weep or restrict flow. Bring the fitting in and we will measure it rather than guessing from a photo.
No. Heat softens the cover and the tube, and the hose blisters and then splits under pressure it would otherwise handle without trouble. It fails progressively rather than suddenly, so people often run a degrading hose for weeks. If your machine has a burner, buy hose rated for it.
