There is no version of this where Hempstead is around the corner from Brooklyn. Depending where you start it is thirty-five to forty-five minutes, and on a bad afternoon it is more. Anyone telling you otherwise has not made the trip.
What makes it worth making is what happens at the other end. Brooklyn's industrial supply base has thinned out considerably over the last twenty years as the warehouses turned into apartments, and what is left is spread thin. The common experience is a morning spent between three places, none of which had the fitting, and a hose that still needs crimping somewhere else.

Bring the failed assembly and in most cases you leave inside twenty minutes with the replacement in your hand.

For anything unusual, yes, and from Brooklyn it is worth doing. Describe the assembly or send a photo and the parts can be pulled before you arrive. For a standard hydraulic or industrial hose there is no need, since it gets built while you wait anyway.
